Kicking the "Gay Habit" at the IC
by breakfast of champions inheard from a reliable source that this was part of friday's program.
they even interviewed a "former gay man" who "kicked the gay habit".. evidently kicking the "gay habit" is difficult, not unlike quitting smoking or avoiding sugary snacks.
the persons who related this to me found the whole thing to be laughable at best, but honestly seemed quite disturbed by it (which is good!

Disturbing Footnote in Tomorrow's Study Article...
by HeyThere inarticle is basicqlly about families where a spouse is working away from home for an extended period, etc...a foot note says basically that some studies have shown that working away from home can cause serious consequences, such as infidelity, homosexuality, or incest.
.
pull it up on jw.org...that is what it says.

Well, if you do work far from home and end up "turning homosexual" . . . . there is hope.
According to the recent IC, you too can "kick the gay habit":

No worries!

CANTLEAVE/NUGGET - classic! That is good stuff.
BTW - the footnote says "Reports from various countries indicate. . ." This tells me this is the society's branches in different countries reporting this behavior, not a government or scientific survey.

STUCKINARUT- Yes. The terms "kicking the gay habit" and "gay habit" were actually used (apparently more than once)
I did ask if the "brother" giving the talk was Anthony Morris, but they didn't remember ( these we not very "strong" brothers and sisters, mind you - which is good!)

If you were on your death bed, what is the ONE thing you would say you have learnt ?
by new hope and happiness ini think i would say " you can not change others you can only change your self" .
if you cant think of anything what is the next number in this sequence?.
what do these sums have in common?.

Always ask yourself, "How do I know what I know?"
Most important question a person can ask themself.

Just to clarify:
The speaker at the convention used the expression "kick the gay habit".
In my commentary, however, I sarcastically stated it must be difficult to kick the "gay habit" - like quitting smoking or avoiding sugary snacks. Those are my words, not the speakers.
Sorry if that caused confusion.

I'm just amazed how at an International Convention celebrating the 100yr anniversary of God's See-Thru Kingdom, they decide what's really important is discussing what less than 2% of the population do in bed.
Anyone else have this talk/experience at their RC/IC?

The new phonograph
by Pistoff inway back in 20's or 30's, (someone correct me if i have the time frame wrong), the wt's strategy for witnessing was to give each publisher (or have them buy one) a phonograph to set on the householder's steps so they could play one of the judge's speeches.. flash forward and there was a testimony card that publishers handed to the householder, introducing them.. this gave way to the current model of the publisher being informed and able to discuss a subject with the householder.. .
that seems to be giving way to the new approach being used by the wt: the website.. the wt realizes that slick content is more impressive that a publisher talking, one who can't or won't keep up with the insane doctrinal changes.. publishing books and magazines is taking the back seat; the wt and awake have less than half the content they used to, and are published half as often.. the wt's trolley cart method involves not getting into discussions with people, but using an ipad to play them a video.. .
the past is the future!.

"Defending those beliefs " -- with DEEP respect, MILDNESS--" was a powerful mind - control tool, we had to teach, know those doctrines."
That's a good point, PROLOGOS.

by dogon inthen i saw a stat that made me think differently.
there are 7 million practicing voodoo religion world wide.

As one of our circuit overseers once said (and this is in the context of how many people are disfellowshipped in JWs): "We may not have the LARGEST organization, but we certainly do have the CLEANEST."
I don't think a Nazi could have said it better.
